Try This Diet:
One of the first things you will hear is how other’s have lost their weight. This usually involves using some diet or weight-loss program. But is your friend munching on fries as she tells you this, or sipping a soda? Unfortunately for your currently skinny friend, but she’s just going to gain that weight right back.
Dieting is temporary. Start your weight loss journey by losing the program and committing to change your habits for the rest of your life. That way you’ll not only keep the weight off, but you’ll stay healthy and happy the rest of your many days.
Don’t eat…
Right behind people telling you what to do to lose weight are people telling you what not to do! They’ll say “don’t eat this” or “stay away from that”. First of all you’ll starve if you listen to them. You have to eat healthy, full meals. By starving yourself, your body will go into survival mode and cling on to that fat storage you are so desperately trying to shed. You’re metabolism will be fried, and you might even get malnourished.
Try “eating more” rather than “eating less”. Find more healthy foods–whole grains, fruits and veggis, you know the stuff–and eat your fill of those instead of the unhealthy ones. Otherwise you’ll always be thinking about food and you’ll be destined to fail.
Get a nice scale!
Honestly, nobody cares about your weight but you. No one will ever know your weight even if you tell them. My wife told me her weight yesterday for a health insurance quote and I’ve already forgotten it. Instead of an expensive scale, use a tape measure. Or even more natural, just look in the mirror. The scale won’t be able to tell you if you’re gaining muscle as you lose fat. A mirror can help you realize, “hey, my love handles are gone, even though I weigh the same!”
No dessert!
Probably the most heart-breaking things you’ll hear is the unhealthy stuff you’ll be missing out on. But face it: you want that devilishly delicious chocolate cake. Then have it! Just make sure you eat a good healthy meal first, with some proteins and complex carbs. That way your blood-sugar level won’t skyrocket and your body start packing on the pounds.
You are being successful: Reward yourself every now and then. Seriously, a little treat every now and then won’t hurt your track to weight loss journey. Remember, ditch the programs. Are you really going to give up that chocolate cake forever?
